Good morning Helen and Peggy!
I am in the process of arranging a meeting with the other
members of the Standard 11 subgroup.
As I read through your email, I note that there will be a meeting
on Friday May 29th at 1PM. Our division (Teaching and Learning
Services) is scheduled for a retreat that day from Noon-4PM. I
would have to get special permission from Steve to be excused from that event,
and I don’t think they would be very willing to make the exception for
me. Do you want me to ask, or will our written summary be sufficient in
my absence?
I apologize for the conflict, and hope that this will not be an
issue for you.
Thanks,
Gail

Subject: Summarizing our Work So Far
Hello
Everyone,
As
those of you who attended last Friday's meeting already know, we've agreed that
each subgroup [Standards 11, 12, and 13] will submit to Peggy and me by
March 27th the following:
1.
A writeup of what you have completed thus far -- can be in narrative or bullet
point-style and would summarize what you have assessed that
we as a college are doing well and why this work is
important to our mission and vision.
2.
A list of what is still missing or incomplete -- including any sources that
have not responded and/or responses that are too "global" and not
sufficiently detailed, as well as additional questions that came up during this
phase of the process.
3.
Your recommendations going forward -- what are areas of needed growth or
further development for HCC?
The
goal is for each of our Work Teams to have about 50% of our work
reported. The Steering Committee understands that this is a first-of-many
drafts -- a fluid document -- a work-in-progress. What we are gathering
is a kind of snapshot of the work so far. A template has been produced
and is being modified. Peggy will send it out to all of us when she
receives it (either Tuesday or Wednesday). Please use this template for
reporting on your subgroup's work thus far.
So,
your subgroup will need to meet over the next month to work on this assignment.
The Standard 12 Group is already scheduled for April 24th. Find a time
that is convenient for all your members and compile your findings; then send
them on to Peggy and me on or before May 27th.
The
Steering Committee, then, wants all of us on each Work Team to meet
together as a group to hear from one another about the progress we've
made. That meeting for our Work Team will take place on May 29th
(proviously scheduled as a Steering Committee Meeting date) at 1 p.m. in Duncan
Hall 208. Please mark this new meeting date on your calendars.
After
that meeting, Peggy and I will meet to compile all three reports and prepare
our summary of what Work Team D has accomplished. The two of us will
attend a Steering Committee meeting on June 5th, which will be the last Middle
States meeting of this academic year.
Our
thanks to all of you for the good work you have been doing all year. This
summation will let us know what remains for our attention when we return in the
fall.
With
best wishes, Helen
